History Of LED Technology

History Of LED Technology

History Of LED Technology by accident detection at first. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was discovered that when electrified the silicon Carbide (SiC) semiconductor produced light. This light was too heavy to be used individually so the study was not disseminated. This could have been the end of the LED Technology but it was not a satisfying end.

History Of LED Technology

Nearly 20 years later Russian and German scientists revised the concept of light produced in this way. The light was still so dim that the vision almost died out again. A report published in 1936, which helped to develop the term electroluminescence, sparked research into this source. The science of electroluminescence has diminished in a momentary blur. It began to gain favor again in the 1950's when some British scientists began to try it again. This LED Technology to the first infrared LED. With this LED technology came the first spectrum of visible, red LED, from Gallium Phosphide (GaP).

History Of LED Technology

This was the beginning of the LED Technology revolution. Since then each point of the decade has brought advances in the LED Technology. The use of different substrates brought bright lights of different colors. The colors range from red to orange to green, then yellow to light green. In the 1990's the use of Gallium Nitride helped to usher in the era of blue LEDs. These blue lights provided the basis for white light. The use of fluorescent phosphors has helped to turn that blue light into much larger white lights. LED Technology are now available in almost all visible light colors.

History Of LED Technology

LED technology has led to the use of additional LEDs as well. Due to their low output they started with indicator lights and show only light applications. The cost of building materials was a problem at first, therefore, they were only used in expensive laboratories and testing equipment. Later they began to be used in electronics, calculators and clocks. The advent of additional colors has increased their use in display. They can be used on digital signage and display equipment.

History Of LED Technology

The first type of flat-screen LED television was made in 1977, by James P. Mitchell. This prototype was a red, monochromatic display. Later, in the 1990's, low-cost, efficient blue LED Technology introduced this use. As soon as full color schemes were discovered in the late 1990s, a flat panel LED TV became a fully functional and popular option.

History Of LED Technology

As LED Technology advances and luminescence light increases, the use of LEDs has increased. LEDs first appeared on devices used to illuminate areas. Lights, earth light, and other sources of light are well-known. Emergency lights began to use this LED Technology. The street lights have been replaced by LEDs. The interior lights and headlights on the cars became a typical home for these lights. As the cost of lamp production decreased, and the availability of color and brightness increased, consumption exploded.

Wrap Up

From accidental discovery to a typical home name, the history of LED Technology is long. Initial discovery and limited use of a LED did not indicate much hope. Very few early researchers could predict the many, varied uses of this technology. LED Technology has gained its prominent place in today's society.
